The JT Makeup Studio Update

We are now established in our new Studio at based at Wensleydale Mills, Birstall, West Yorkshire. It's been a long hard move as Julia has relocated from London but also been filming in Wales and London. However the new Studio is finally taking shape.

We have a library hosting a large volume of makeup, beauty, art and fashion books plus every edition of the Makeup Artist and the original Warpaint magazines. There is also an archive of Vogue UK, USA & Italia plus early editions of the Face, POP and Dazed & Confused.

Day courses will begin in April with Open Days and pre booked Taster Days with the first Fashion Hair & Makeup Course beginning in June. This course will run for 6 weeks and will provide students with a detailed programme of makeup and hair training. There are two photographic assessment shoots on this course.

Alongside working as a freelance makeup artist Julia will teach modules on each course at the beginning and will also finish each course with a final presentation and certificates. This will be supported by a host of visiting teachers who are currently active in the makeup industry working in the fashion and film industries. The freelance team includes Mandy Gold, Louise Young, Bettina Graham, Lisa George and Tanya Noor. The student makeup kits are by MAC Cosmetics.

There is a shop area within the Studio displaying the JT Makeup Glitter & Metallic Leaf range plus a range of sponges, brushes and set bags.

We promote a strong belief in good training for makeup artists to provide them with skills and knowledge for an ever changing industry. Students will be taught up to date techniques and will use current products used in the makeup industry. The Business of Makeup module is included in all courses to ensure our students have a clear idea and focus of where to develop their careers. While working freelance Julia often sees her past graduates from LCF and West Thames College, this is the rewards for teaching and there have been some very proud moments. In 2010 Julia won a National Teaching Award for her contribution to Education and her aim is always to provide an in-depth teaching programme to really prepare her students for an exciting yet challenging career as a hair and makeup artist.
