UMAE Trade Show

Last weekend we had a stand at UMAE for our glitter range. We brought some new items to launch including gold leaf sheets, stencils and mini packs of assorted glitters. We sold out completely of the mini packs of glitter as they were very popular.

UMAE has been running for 5 years, its a professional makeup artist trade show. The stands this year included PAM, Makeup Forever, NYX, The Armoury, Nanshy Brushes, Tina Earnshaw Brushes, Get Set Go Bags and PPI Premiere Products to name a few brands promoting their wares. The JT Makeup Studio had a stand promoting and selling our range of glitter and gold leaf. I also promoted the new makeup capes and mats designed by Makeup Artist Donna Clitheroe. Donna is the head of the Makeup team at ITV Loose Women and Lorraine. Recently Donna has launched her own products comprising of makeup caps and mats with a lip design on them. They are great, good value at £15.00 each and easy to wipe clean plus they look fab on your work station. It was great to see WAM (Wigs & Makeup) on their stand talking about their range of wig making courses. UMAE is attended by Hair & Makeup Artists and makeup students. It is a makeup industry event and allows the makeup gangs to also catch up with each other. I enjoyed the whole weekend seeing many friends and colleagues from my filming world and finding out about new products available. Alongside the event are a host of seminars, workshops and a Main Stage Presentation. This year the Main Stage was hosted by Joey Bevan who designed a 2 day programme of demonstrations and industry panels including Stuart Bray, Michelle Court, Maria Malone, Buster Knight and myself. The industry panels were really interesting with Phyllis Cohen, Maria Malone, Stuart Bray, Jennie Roberts and Vanessa Davis.

On the Saturday I gave a seminar based on Starting Out, I asked Phillip Carson from WAM to join me and we focused on training, working in theatre and gaining good skills in hair. We really enjoyed our session which was packed and we were given some really interesting questions to answer.

UMAE is a must attend show for all makeup students and artists, it is held in London every year and well worth checking out. Big thanks to Chris McGowan, Christine and Simone for a brilliant weekend. For more information check out www.umae.co.uk
